A little about me. I am mum of 2 and wife of one fun-loving man. I grew up in Cape Town – the most spectacular city in my humble opinion – and had an incredible outdoor upbringing nurturing my love for adventure. I went on to study teaching which I jumped into straight after finishing school. Got a job, worked for 7 years and decided, with my husband, that I needed a change in scenery – not an easy decision might I add – but we decided to take the very big (looooooong) leap of faith and start up our life in the land of the long white cloud, New Zealand. I set up a great teaching job and started to venture this new great outdoors, from entering trail running races, road running races, open water swimming, surfing and the half Ironman. For me, the best way to see any new city is to just get up and indulge in any sport on offer. We have travelled a lot around the country – especially with Covid-19 preventing any other travel. We then welcomed our first child into the world on the eve of my birthday. We continued our travels with him – both local and further afield. Deciding in 2023 that 1 little rugrat wasn’t enough we decided to embark on an adventure of 2, welcoming baby traveller number 2 in Feb 2024. We just love the thrill we get from travelling, learning about new cultures, exploring new places, feeling the stoke of any ripple or wave that comes through. This is what has inspired us to follow our hearts and teach our 2 children what the world has to offer. Allow them, and us, to be inspired by what is out there. The unknown is daunting but so incredibly exciting at the same time. Being a teacher, I truly believe in learning through experiences and that’s what I intend to do for my children.
